Project Title : Mat Weaving Programme for Poor Rural Women for Poverty Alleviation among the Rural Poor Women
Donor Agency : Startfund Fred Foundation,The Netherlands.
Project Summary :
RDWWS implemented Mat Weaving Programme, a transformative endeavour aimed at providing sustainable livelihood opportunities. Operating in marginalized communities, particularly in the rural areas of Kadapa District this programme equips women with the skills and resources needed to engage in mat weaving—a traditional craft with deep cultural roots. Through training sessions and access to weaving materials, women are empowered to produce high-quality mats, tapping into local resources and craftsmanship. This not only generates income for the participants but also preserves traditional art forms and fosters a sense of pride in cultural heritage.
By investing in their skills and providing market linkages, this programme catalyzes socio-economic development at the grassroots level, lifting families out of poverty and creating a ripple effect of empowerment within the community.
